The Tribal Nations that Share Minnesota’s Geography

Prairie Island Indian Community (Tinta Wita) is Carleton’s nearest Indigenous neighbor and the easternmost Dakota nation that shares geography with Minnesota. In Fall 2021, then-Prairie Island Tribal Council President Shelly Buck and Prairie Island staff visited campus as the first presidential delegation from a Native Nation to visit campus in its 155-year history.
